  • October 29 -- A woman visiting the Mill Hill neighborhood was sexually assaulted about 9:30 Thursday night, just after she had arrived in the area of Jackson Street and Greenwood Avenue. The suspect reportedly approached the woman while she was walking on the street. The victim’s account to police said that the man struck her in the face, then threatened her with both a knife and a handgun (neither of which were produced) and forced her into the alley. When a resident noticed some books and other belongings lying on the sidewalk, he went to a neighbor’s house to investigate after collecting the items. It was determined the items belonged to someone who was coming for a visit.  The two men located the woman’s car and began to search for her. As they arrived at Davis Alley, a small, half-block lane between Jackson and Mercer streets, the woman emerged with a man exiting just behind her.  The suspect took off running and the neighbors pursued him, losing him down S. Broad Street near the arena. Police said the suspect was described only as a clean-cut black male, about 30 years old, wearing a tan jacket, dark-colored jeans, a black hat and a black do-rag.
