  • May 31 -- An armed robbery occurred at approximately 12:02 am Sunday in the 300 block of Tyler Street and the victim was a  17-year-old teenager of Trenton, NJ. It was reported that while the juvenile victim was in the area of the 300 block of Tyler Street sitting inside a vehicle he heard gunshots.  At this is time the victim ran out of auto and while running was struck in his buttocks with a single gunshot. After the victim was shot he fell to the ground. Two suspects approached him; one of the suspects began to assault the victim, while the other armed with a handgun demanded for the victim to give up his money.  The victim complied and after giving the suspects his money ran from the scene.  The victim was treated at the Saint Francis Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.  The first suspect was described as a short and stocky build black male with short braids.  The second suspect was described as a tall black male with brown skin.

    May 23 -- An aggravated assault that occurred in the area of the 1st block of Sanford Avenue, Trenton,  on Saturday at approximately 12:39 am. The victim was an 18-year-old male. Trenton Police Officers were detailed to respond to Capital Health System at Mercer on a report of a man shot.  During the investigation it was learned that while the victim was a passenger in a vehicle several shots were heard and immediately after the shots the victim realized that a bullet struck him.  At this time the victim exited the vehicle and ran towards Martin Luther King Boulevard. While the victim was running from the scene an unknown person stopped his vehicle and transported the victim to Capital Health System at Mercer.  After receiving preliminary attention at Mercer hospital the victim was transported to Capital Health System at Fuld for further treatment.  The victim’s injury were non-life threatening. A description of the suspect is not available.

     
  • May 22 -- An aggravated assault occurred in the area of Olden Avenue and Taylor Street, Trenton, NJ on Friday at approximately 5:00 pm. The victim was a 27-year-old male.  It was reported that while the victim was walking in the area of Olden Avenue approximately 4 black males started to punch him about the face. During the assault the victim fell to the ground and while he was on the ground the suspects continued to kick him about the head and face.  The victim was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center and treated for a fractured jaw and right eye orbital. 

     
  • May 21 -- Trenton Police are investigating a Criminal Attempt Homicide that occurred on Thursday at approximately 8:26 pm in the area of Boudinot Avenue and Hermitage Avenue, Trenton, NJ.  There were two victims to this incident; a 24-year-old male and a 36-year-old male, both of Trenton, NJ.  Originally the 24-year-old victim was transported to Capital Health System at Mercer, but was eventually taken to Capital Health System at Fuld, where he underwent emergency surgery. The investigation also revealed that a 36-year-old Trenton man, while operating his Ford Explorer on Hermitage Avenue heard several gunshots and immediately following the shots his truck’s rear window was shattered.  At this time the victim felt an object strike him in the neck, which prompted him to drive to the hospital.  At the hospital it was concluded that he was not struck by a projectile, but instead was struck by glass from his shattered rear window. The victim was treated and released.

  • May 17 -- A man answering the door at his home in the 1100 block of Riverside Avenue was greeted by two black men in dark clothing and wearing ski masks.  The incident occurred shortly before 11:00 pm Sunday, and the victim was robbed of his cell phone and $55 in cash.  He was also shot in the arm when he tried to close the door after seeing the masked men standing before him.

  • May 14 -- An anonymous person called “911” at approximately 12:49 am and reported that there was a man unresponsive in the area of Wiley Avenue and Martin Luther King Blvd.  Trenton Emergency Medical Services' personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.  TEMS located a black male, later identified as John Madden, 58. The man’s identity was learned after Crime Scene Unit detectives printed the victim and submitted the prints to the State Police Automated Fingerprint System “AFIS.”  The victim was transported to Capital Health Systems at Fuld where Trauma Doctors found a brain bleed and trauma to the left and right side of his head.  The Victim is listed in critical condition and was placed on a ventilator.  ICU Doctors stated that the Victim’s injuries appeared to be from an assault and not from being hit by a car or an accidental fall.  The crime scene area and its surroundings were canvassed by the detectives hoping to learn additional information, but to no avail.  Trenton Police Criminal Investigation Bureau is seeking the public’s assistance in gathering additional information pertaining to Mr. Madden’s assault.  In this case it is crucial that the “good Samaritan” that made the “911’ call contact the police department in order to assist with this ongoing investigation. 

     
  • May 11 -- On Monday it was reported to the police that at approximately 1:12 pm two City of Trenton employees were assaulted in the area of Prospect Avenue and Rutherford Avenue, Trenton, NJ.  One of the employees was a 37-year-old male and the other was a 32-year-old male. During the investigation it was learned that an unidentified female strolled in front of a City vehicle that was being operated by the 37-year-old victim in the area of Prospect Avenue and Rutherford Avenue. At this time both the 37-year-old City worker and the unknown female engaged in an argument.  The 37-year-old City worker and three other City workers that were inside the vehicle were about to take their lunch and were going to a local pizzeria.  The 37-year-old worker parked the City vehicle and not paying further any attention to the unidentified female exited the vehicle and proceeded to walk to the pizzeria.  It was alleged that at this time a suspect approached the 37-year-old victim from the rear and after claiming that the female was his mother proceeded to punch the victim on the side of his face.  This action resulted in a physical altercation between the suspect and the 37-year-old victim.  During the fight a second suspect came to assist the first suspect.  This prompted for the 32-year-old victim to come to the aid of the 37-year-old victim.  During the fight the 32-year-old victim was struck on the head with an unknown blunt object. The suspects fled the scene and the victims drove themselves to the Capital Health at Mercer to be treated for their injuries.  The 37-year-old victim suffered a fractured jaw and the 32-year-old victim suffered a minor brain bleed.  Due to the 32-year-old victim’s injury, he was transported to the Capital Health at Fuld for follow up treatment, but was expected to be treated and release.  The suspects were identified as follows:

    ØAn African American male, 200 pounds, medium complexion, shoulder length braids and white T-shirt.

    ØAn African American male, 5’06”, 190- pounds, medium complexion, dark cap, shoulder length braids, wearing a black shirt with a white shirt underneath.

     

    May 7 -- Detectives have issued warrants for the arrest of Ishmael L. Robinson, known as "Ish," in connection with the armed robbery and shooting of a 43 year-old male Thursday around 9 p.m. in the area of East State Street and South Walter Avenue. Police describe the events this way:  The victim was engaged in a game of "dice" with others when the armed suspect approached the 43-year-old, demanding money. The victim attempted to flee from the suspect, running across East State Street towards "Willie's Lounge" in the 1100 block of East State Street. Following the victim, the suspect fired one shot from a handgun, striking the victim in the left hip area and then fleeing the area. There was no money or property taken. Police describe Robinson as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches, 150 pounds, with black hair and medium skin complexion, a tattoo on his upper right arm, scars on the right side of his face and under his right eye.

     
  • May 3 -- An armed robbery/shooting reportedly occurred at approximately 2:49 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Anderson Street.  The victim was a 27-year-old African American male. It was reported that police officers were detailed to the 100 block of Walnut Avenue on a report of a man shot.  When the officers arrived they located the victim lying in an alleyway.  The victim was transported to the Capital Health System at Fuld to be treated for a gunshot wound that fractured his right femoral bone. The victim was underwent emergency surgery and was admitted to the hospital in stable condition.  During the investigation it was learned that a group of males took the victim’s cell phone and wallet.  The suspects were described as a group of African American males.
