  • March 29 -- On Sunday, Trenton Police were investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 2:39 am on the 1st block of Kelsey Avenue, Trenton, NJ.  There were two victims, one 22-year-old and one 19-year-old male, both of Trenton, NJ.  Both victims were transported to the Capital Health System at Fuld to be treated for their gunshot wounds.  The 19 year old victim was admitted to the hospital and listed in critical condition, but was expected to recover.  The 22-year-old victim was treated and released from the hospital. It was learned that the victims while attempting to buy an ATV received gunshot wounds. The suspects were described as two black males wearing all black clothing.

  • March 28 -- A 48-year-old city man was stabbed multiple times Saturday about 5 p.m. on the 500 block of South Clinton Avenue, police said. The victim’s identity wasn't released. Police said a black woman punched the man in his face inside a local liquor store and that the woman and four others later attacked the man outside the store and fled. The victim suffered several stab wounds, cops said, adding that police found a small pocketknife at the scene. The stab victim yesterday was listed in stable but critical condition at Capital Health’s Fuld Campus hospital, police said.
     

  • March 27 -- The Trenton Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred at approximately 1:16 am on Friday, March 27, 2009.  The homicide occurred in the area of Southard Street and Monmouth Street, Trenton, NJ.  The homicide victim was identified as Theodore Ellerbe, 26 of Trenton, NJ and the second shooting victim, who was listed in critical condition, was identified as Bernard Henderson, 25, of Trenton, NJ.  At the time of the shooting Trenton Police Officers were detailed to the area of Southard Street and Monmouth Street on a report of shots fired.  When the officers arrived at the scene they located evidence to the shooting.  The scene was secured to conduct further investigation. While the officers were at the scene, Officer Alphonse Ferdetta informed them that two shooting victims had just arrived at the Capital Health System @ Fuld hospital.  It was learned that the victims drove themselves to the hospital.

     
  • March 25 -- A lucky city man escaped from a large group of assailants with his life Wednesday evening after a handgun failed to fire, police said.  The unnamed 24-year-old was sitting on a bench in the Third Street Park on the 200 block of Third Street just before 5:40 p.m. Police said he was approached by 15 to 20 men, one of whom had a handgun.  As the armed man pulled out his gun, he began to hit the victim about the head with it. Police said the armed man pointed the gun at the victim as he lay on the ground and pulled the trigger, but the handgun malfunctioned.  At that point, the victim was able to escape, police said, running to his home. He was later treated at Capital Health at Fuld for his injuries.  A full description of the men in the group or the man holding the gun was not available.

     
  • March 25 -- At about 4:38 Wednesday afternoon, a man passing through a park on the 300 block of Brunswick Avenue was the victim of an attempted robbery by four suspects, police said. The unnamed 25-year-old was walking in Martin Luther King Boulevard Park when he was surprised by several suspects, one of whom punched the victim on the right side of his face. Another allegedly tried to go through the victim's pockets. The victim ran, finding shelter in a local bar and calling the police.  Police described the first suspect as a black male, about 20 years old, 5 foot 2, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, white T-shirt and black pants, and the second suspect as a black male, about 20, 4 foot 9, wearing a green long sleeve shirt and black pants. The third and fourth suspects could not be clearly described.
     

  • March 23 -- Two men were blasted in the chest with gunfire late Monday night in apparent separate shootings, Capt. Joe Juniak confirmed. “It looks like one is DOA (dead on arrival) with a gunshot wound, and we also have one in critical condition with a gunshot wound also to the chest,” he said.  Juniak confirmed a 31-year-old black male was dead at St. Francis Medical Center after being dropped off there by an unknown private party. And he said a 23-year-old black male was in critical condition after being taken by ambulance to the trauma unit at Capital Health System-Fuld campus.

     
  • March 20 -- A vehicle was struck by gunfire in South Trenton Friday night while its owner slept in his nearby home, police said. Two shots fired at about 11:21 p.m. at the corner of Chestnut Ave nue and Grand Street hit a black, four-door 1998 Jaguar, waking the owner, who did not know his car was hit until police came to the door, according to police. Officers searching for possible shooters learned that at the time of the shooting a large group of males was at the scene, police said. A black man in a black sweatshirt with a white skeleton print was seen firing a handgun, they were told. 

     
  • March 14 -- Police said a man was assaulted and robbed while using his cell phone on the corner of Franklin Street and Hamilton Avenue Saturday night.  The man, Oscar Gonzalez, 49, of Trenton, was on his phone at about 11:15 p.m. when four or five males and one female approached him, police said. They said the sus pects pushed Gonzalez to the ground, kicking and punching him while they took his cell phone and wallet. Gonzalez was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center for a fractured left eye orbit and pain to the left shoulder.  Police are still searching for the suspects.

  • March 14 -- Two men were able to escape with only minor injuries after speeding away from three men who pointed handguns and shotguns at their car Saturday, police said. Police said two 20-year-old men from Hamilton were driving in the area of East State Street when three males blocked their path just before 8 p.m. Saturday. One of the three men was armed with a handgun and another with a shotgun, police said.  Police said the man with the handgun approached the driver's side window and tried to force the driver from the car. But after a shot went off, the driver put the car in reverse and rammed into a porch, police said. They said the two victims were then able to escape. Police said both victims suffered minor injuries from the crash into the porch, but no gunshot wounds.  They described the three suspects as black males in all black clothing. Police said two wore black bandannas or masks over their faces.

     
  • March 14 --  Trenton police have identified the man possibly responsible for robbing a cab driver at gunpoint March 14, but still need help finding the man.  Police said Ewing Police provided a photo of the man who may have robbed Quiddus A. Patwary, 41, a taxi driver for Brother's Taxi. Patwary picked up the suspect at 1:40 a.m. March 14 near Fischer Place. The suspect then robbed Patwary at gunpoint of about $147.  Police are now asking for the public's help locating or identifying the man, described as a 19-year-old black male, 5 feet 6 inches, with a thin build and three gold-colored upper teeth.
