  • A 53 year old male was pronounced dead where he was found outside of the Washington School on Chestnut and Morris Avenues at 4:45 pm Friday, December 28.

  • A 31 year old male was attacked and robbed while walking along the 300 block of South Olden Avenue at about 7:10 pm Thursday, December 27.  The suspect is described as a black male, 6' tall, 200 pounds dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt and armed with a silver handgun.

  • Two Spring Street homes were pierced by bullets at 8:35 pm on Wednesday, December 26. No one was injured and no suspects have been identified.

  • On Christmas Eve, two males held up a liquor store in the 900 block of Chestnut Avenue.  The suspects are described as:

    • Male, 5'5" tall, medium build, black hair and mustache, dark gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, armed with a gun.

    • Male, approximately 5'9" tall, thinner build, curly black hair, wearing a plaid jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, armed with a knife.

  • Rasheem Cook, 27, and Hasam Ali Taylor, 26, were wounded in a shooting incident outside a home in the first block of Belvidere Avenue at about 6:37 pm on Saturday, December 22.

  • Information is sought in a home invasion robbery that occurred at approximately 5:47 pm, December 22 where three men broke into a home on the 200 block of Rosemont Avenue and stole three televisions and some clothing.  The suspects were described as follows:

    • Black male, 6' 2" tall, 250 pounds, wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt dark jeans and armed with a knife

    • Black male, 5'5" tall, 150 pounds, camouflage jumpsuit, camouflage jacket with a red bandana and armed with a knife.

    • Black male, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans with green and yellow stripes on the back and armed with a black revolver.

  • Jamar Rodgers, 25, was shot in the buttocks while walking to his car at Farragut and South Logan Avenues around 11:40 a.m. Saturday, December 22.

  • A 20 year old city woman was shot in the face after rocks were thrown and shots fired at a house in the 500 block of Farragut Avenue.  The incident occurred at about 3:11 a.m. Saturday, December 22.

  • City resident Ramona Matthews, 42, was walking to her car on the 600 block of Grand Street at 10:42 p.m. Thursday, December 20, when an "unknown suspect approached her, said hello, and sprayed her face with mace and then demanded her money," according to a police statement.  Matthews gave up the money but was maced again and hit over the head by the suspect, whom police described as a 16- to-20-year-old male, 5 foot 5 inches tall, 130 pounds, and distinguished by a black jacket with a fur hood, black curly hair, "puffy eyebrows," and a "big bottom lip."
  • Norbert Sutton, Jr., 28, of Burlington, NJ was the victim of a stabbing incident at about 9:46 pm on Thursday, December 20 during an altercation with several individuals in the area of Cooper Street.

  • At approximately 9:07 p.m. Thursday, December 20, two "black male" suspects in black hooded sweat shirts, blue jeans, and black bandannas entered city resident Muhammad Yusef's Diamond Cab, unveiled a shotgun, and demanded the driver's money, according to police. Yusef gave up the money and his cell phone to the suspects, who were described as males, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds and 5 feet 6 inches tall and 140 pounds, respectively.

  • At about 8:45 pm on Thursday, December 20, three suspects robbed the Citgo gas Station at Liberty and Lalor Streets of cash.  Two of the suspects were described as six foot tall males wearing black pants and black hooded sweatshirts.

  • Four people staged a home invasion in the 800 block of Riverside Avenue at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday, December 20.  The suspects took money, jewelry and a cell phone.  Police have described two of the suspects as males, approximately 16 years old, 5'6" tall and weighing about 150 pounds. One wore a black hooded sweatshirt, the other a yellow one and both wore masks.

  • A male suspect, 5'9", 160-190 pound between 18 and 26 years old is sought in a purse snatching that occurred on Clay Street at about 7:42 pm Thursday, December 20.

  • Chaz Mathis, a 27-year-old city resident who was shot multiple times inside an apartment building on the 900 block of Edgewood Avenue at approximately 2:29 p.m. Thursday, December 20.  Police described the suspect as a black male of 35 to 40 years, standing about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 280 to 300 pounds. The suspect was wearing a black leather jacket, a multi-colored sweater, blue jeans, a black leather baseball hat and black work boots, police said.
     

  • At 7:36 pm on Tuesday, December 18, George Williams was walking in the 100 block of Rossell Avenue when he was attacked by five men and robbed.  Three of the attackers were described as:

    • 18-25 year old black male, 5'5", 120 pounds wearing a black jacket and black jeans

    • 17-19 year old black male, 5'6", 120 pounds wearing a tan doo-rag, white shirt and blue jeans.

    • 18-25 year old black male, 5'4", 115 pounds wearing a brown hat, blue shirt and red jeans.

  • Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at appoximately 5:00 pm, Tuesday, December 18, in the rear of a house on the 100 block of Boudinot Street. The suspects, described as two young black males, 12-14 years of age, 5'6" tall, 105 pounds, were wearing black hooded sweatsuits and blue jeans, attacked 47 year old Gabriel Adeaga. 

  • A Queens, N.Y., man was wounded by gunfire during a robbery Saturday night, December 15 on Jersey Street.  Police said that Euchan Dongo, 31, and his cousin were driving along Jersey Street just after 10 p.m. after stopping at a 7-Eleven on Lalor Street when they were flagged down by the occupants of a vehicle that was behind them. When they stopped, three men wearing black ski masks and black hoodies got out of the trailing vehicle.  Police said one of the suspects, who was armed with a handgun, allegedly demanded money. Dongo was shot during the robbery. After the shooting, the suspects, who were described only as black males, got into their car and fled.

  • Police are investigating the theft of coin rolls by an armed robber at David's Check Cashing on South Clinton Avenue Saturday morning, December 15.  Police said Ewing resident Ricardo A. Maya, 28, was opening the store when a man armed with a shotgun approached him. The man allegedly told Maya to go inside the store and, once the two were inside, to open the safe.  Maya said he had to call another employee for the safe's combination, which Maya said he had forgotten. While on the phone with this employee, Maya asked the person to call the police because he was being robbed.  During the phone conversation, the suspect looked around the store and spied rolled coins. Grabbing an undetermined amount of these, the suspect left the store.  The suspect has been described as a white male, about 6 feet 1 inch in height, wearing a gray hooded jacket, a tan colored long trench coat, and black goggles or glasses. Police said he was armed with a single barreled shotgun.

  • Jenri Cua, 33, and Ruth Cua, 38, were in front of a residence on the 200 block of Fulton Street around 3:10 a.m. Saturday, December 15, removing items from a vehicle. Police said the Cuas were approached by two armed suspects demanding money. Jenri Cua handed over his wallet. After taking it the suspects fled the scene.  Police gave identical descriptions for the alleged robbers. Each was described as a 20-year old Hispanic male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black baseball cap.
  • A 31-year-old city man was shot during an armed robbery Friday night, December 14, according to police.  Romaine Taylor was standing on the corner of Old Rose Avenue and Brunswick Avenue at around 8 p.m. Friday after buying food at a local deli when two males approached him and demanded money, police said.  When Taylor told the men he didn't have any money, one of the men shot him, police said.  Taylor threw an undetermined amount of cash at the men and started to run, police said. While Taylor was running, one of the men again fired at him, police said.  Police describe the first suspect as a male wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun. The second suspect was described as a male also wearing a black ski mask.
     
  • POLICE SEEK SUSPECT IN COLONIAL AVENUE SHOOTING.  Jacalyn Anthony, 45, was shot multiple times and seriously wounded in an incident that occurred at about 1:25 a.m. Friday, December 14.  Authorities are seeking Timothy W. Rice, 23, for attempted murder.

  • Suspects sought in two home invasions

    The first of two separate incidents occurred in the 300 block of Oakland Street shortly before 5:15 p.m. The 29-year-old victim, whose name was not disclosed, told authorities that he and his 7-year-old stepson were sleeping when someone forced his way into their home by kicking in the front door. Police said the intruder had a handgun, which he pointed at the 29-year-old as he demanded money.

    The victim surrendered $16 in cash, but the gunman said that amount "wasn't enough," police said. The gunman then ordered the victim to lay on the floor. When the 29-year-old was slow to comply, he was struck on the right side of his head by the gunman, police said.

    When the gunman wandered into the hallway, the victim jumped up and "closed the bedroom door and held it tight. At this point," according to a police news release, "the suspect fired several shots through the door, but fortunately the victim was not hit."

    The gunman -- described only as a black male about 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, wearing a black shirt -- then fled.

    The second home invasion occurred about 10:45 p.m. at an apartment in the first block of Hudson Street. The victims -- identified only as a 24-year-old Trenton man, a 33-year-old Newark woman and a 47-year-old Newark woman -- told authorities they were ordered to lay on the floor by two gunman who entered the apartment through an open front door.

    Police said the gunmen demanded money and stole $3 and a cell phone from one of the victims. Before they fled, the gunmen also stole the cell phones belonging to the other two victims. None of the victims was injured.

    The gunmen were each described as black, between 17 and 20 years old, with a medium build. One was about 6 feet tall, and the other 5 feet 9 inches tall. Each was wearing a black "hoody," bandanna and carried a handgun.

  • There was an armed robbery at the New York Fried Chicken restaurant in the 200 block of East State Street, reported at 6:51 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.  Police said two suspects entered the store, and one of them armed with a silver handgun took aim at city resident Walter Alvarez, 34, who was working behind the counter. They demanded he step toward them, but police said Alvarez froze, fearing for his life.  Police said the suspects instead hopped behind the counter, stole the cash from the register and fled on foot. The first suspect, the gunman, was described as a black male with a skinny build, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. The second suspect was said only to be a black male, wearing a black hoodie and jeans.
  • Police said the owner of the Tu-Pias Grocery, in the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue, saw a pair of teenagers leave his store with sodas they didn’t bother paying for at about 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.  The owner, Estanislao Antonio Rodriguez, 50, attempted to block the front door to stop the shoplift in progress. But police said one of the suspects pulled out a folding knife, threatened the owner with it and said they’d be back in greater numbers. The owner relented, and the knife-wielding teens made off with their drinks. The thieves-turned-robbers were described as two black males, 14 to 16 years old, with skinny builds, and wearing black jackets with hoodies.
  • There was an armed robbery outside of Dee Dee’s Lounge near Chase Street and Landing Alley at 1:46 a.m., Saturday, December 1.  Police said Trenton residents Jamece West, 25, and William Johnson, 23, were walking to their cars when they were confronted by two men who ordered them to the ground and to give up their property.
  • Johnson, police said, complied with the robbers’ demands and turned over a necklace and his money. West refused, however, and one of the suspects struck him in the head with a silver revolver. They then took West’s necklace and money.  Both victims ran from the suspects, and police said West was taken to Capital Health System at Fuld hospital for treatment of a head laceration.
  • A city man was carjacked by two men when he said he pulled off the road in the 500 block of Stuyvesant Avenue to talk to his wife on a cell phone at about 12:15 Saturday morning, December 1.  The victim, Randy Jackson, 39, said two suspects approached his vehicle from behind, one on each side. The man at the driver’s side opened the door and pulled him out of the car, then both got in and drove off.  Police eventually recovered the vehicle, but the two men were nowhere to be found. They were described only as two tall, dark-skinned black males, about 20 years old.
