  • August 15 -- A man was shot near Ewing township's border with Trenton and police last night were working to identify the gunman.  It was about 1:30 p.m. yesterday when Trenton police received reports that a man had been shot at Calhoun and Ingham streets. City officers rushed to the area and arrived to find that the shooting had taken place in the parking lot of the M&M Delicatessen on the Ewing side of Calhoun Street and that the victim had been driven by a friend to the emergency room at Capital Health System at Mercer hospital, police said. The wounded man was later transferred by ambulance from Mercer hospital to the trauma center at Fuld, police said, noting that the friend who drove the wounded man to the hospital was detained for questioning. Ewing police, who were notified of the shooting by Trenton authorities, said they have been told by witnesses that a "large" group of men was gathered in the deli parking lot just before the shooting began. Once a gunshot was heard, all the men scattered, the witnesses told police.  The victim, a 23-year-old Trenton resident whose name was not released, was being treated for a gunshot wound to the hip and was reported to be in stable condition last night at Capital Health System at Fuld hospital, police said.

  • August 10 -- A 29-year-old Hamilton man was shot and killed Sunday night outside his Norman Court apartment. Police responded to 205 Norman Court at 9:50 p.m. Sunday after receiving a 911 call about a possible shooting.  Upon arrival, they found the victim lying on the floor in the bathroom doorway.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.  Early investigation revealed that the victim, identified as Chaz J. Murray, age 29, and three friends were sitting outside the residence when they were approached by two black males dressed in dark clothing with black skull caps pulled down over their faces, black bandanas, and armed with handguns.  Murray was shot as he attempted to run into his apartment.  He ran upstairs and collapsed on the floor.  The two suspects robbed the other three males of cash totaling about $460 and fled the scene.

  • August 3  -- An 18-year-old city man was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in Villa Park early Sunday, police said. Police spokesman Sgt. Medina said officers responding to a shots fired call just before 1 a.m. on the 300 block of Ardmore Avenue arrived to find Smalls lying motionless between two parked cars. Smalls was taken to Capital Health System at Fuld where doctors attempted to save his life, but was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m. Police have no motive as of yet, and the only description of a suspect was a black male wearing a red T-shirt.
  • August 2 -- A Trenton teenager and a friend were stabbed in the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue, police reported. The 19-year-old male victim, whom police did not identify, had suffered a lacerated colon and was in critical condition, but following surgery at Capital Health System at Fuld hospital in Trenton, was reported in stable condition, police reported.  His friend, a 21-year-old male from Trenton, suffered deep cuts to his right arm, and was treated at the hospital and was reported in stable condition, police said. The incident occurred between 1:30 and 1:48 a.m. Saturday when the two men were walking home from a local bar and were approached by three males in the vicinity of South Clinton and Hamilton avenues.
